In a recent work project, I created a set of SVG icons for Conceptua Math’s new free tools for teaching math.
First, I used Gimp (for painting and screenshots) and Inkscape (for vector graphics) to design the images. I then imported my designs to IcoMoon to generate an icon font. The programmers at Conceptua can now use this font to integrate my icons into their app and website with simple codes.
The whole process was fun and easy. Best of all, every tool I used for this project is 100% free. Neato!
This experience has got me fired up to keep making more icons on my own. I’ve already started working on a few creative icon sets that I hope to share sometime soon.
